The narrative is defined as the of events that happen within a Television Drama. The events within the drama help create a story and there are different ways the television dramas present the events.
There is a point of view narrative that occurs within lost. An example of this is when the cameras follow an individual character, there is use of point of view shots and music . The point of view narrative show what is happening form that characters perspective. An point of view narrative has an effective on the audience because they are able to view in the characters eyes , this allows the audience to become closer the character ,that the television drama is focusing on.
There is use of tragedy , this is the most frequent narrative used in lost . This used throughout Lost as people die and suffer from serious injuries . An example were tragedy is used in lost, is when a lady is unable to breath and it almost looks like the lady is suffocating . This has an emotional effect on the audience as the characters looks they are in pain and close to death .

There are a variety of sound techniques used in the first episode of lost especially in the first few scenes, the sound varies . Sound has an impact on the audience because it can help the audience imagine the scene the director is trying to create, it also help back up the imaginary shown on the screen .
At the start of the first episode there is sound used to show what is happening to the character. An example of this within the episode , is when the man runs through the trees , he has an increase in heart rate and it becomes faster . This is effective use of sound because the audience is able to understand what is happening to the characters body . Moreover this technique is useful because it helps create suspense upon the audience, as it makes the audience wonder what is going to happen within the next scene .
Throughout the first scene of lost there is consistent sound that we can hear in the background . The sound that is repeated throughout the scene is people screaming . This is effective because the audience is able to know that something bad is happening within the scene . It also makes the audience feel pity for the characters as they know that they are in pain.

It is non-diegetic because the slow violin music is not what we can hear , it has been edited in . The diegetic sound is very prominent in lost , this is used when you can hear the gushing of the trees and movement of the water . This makes the audience feel as if they are a part of the scene because they can hear what they can see .
In lost there is a lot of editing techniques that have been done to the sound. An example of this from the scene is when the sound became louder. This is effective because it helps create a build-up , as the audience want to know what is going to happen next .
Sound plays an important role in Lost because it helps the audience to have a better understanding of the plot. Sound also has an effective on the audience because when there is fast tempo the audience is able to identify that action is happening, if there is slow music the audience knows that something bad is happening .

Within the first episode of Lost there is variety of elements conveying realism. The attire that each character is wearing shows what profession and personality of each individual .This was evident within the first episode of lost
Each character wore the same outfit , there was a man from the beginning he was wearing a suit. This is an element of realism because it shows that he is a businessman on a plane , this is a realistic example , as business people need plans. Moreover it is realistic as the character has no costume change because they are standard.
There was use make up and effects to make the first episode of Lost seem realistic. An example of this from the episode is when the man had an injury, there was a mass of blood that was shown, when he was removed away from underneath the plane. This is realistic because the blood looked as if it were real; this helps make the scene feel as if it were a real if situation.
Another example of how realism was used within the first episode of lost because there was when people were running way from the blown up plane. This shows realism because humans would run away from an exploding plans is it our natural reflex to do so.
Within the first episode of Lost there are real life situations that happen all the time that are not planned of this from the first episode of lost there was a prergnant woment , who was about to go into labour .This is is an element of realism because the actress makes it seem as if see were pregnant and going into labour , situations in life occur like this all of the time .
Moreover there in lost there was realism portrayed through the characters , as there is someone who always will take charge and control things . An example of this from the program is the man who tries to go round and help people , he used his common sense and took charge. This is an example of realism because there is someone who will take charge weather it is in the workplace or an athletics team, there will always be someone to control a situation.
To conclude this question there was realism featured within the first episode of lost , this is to make the show relatable to the target audience . Things that help the Lost seem realistic is the use of sound , setting and the personalities of each of the characters
How does it fit the conventions of a TV Drama.
Lost does fit into the conventions of a television drama because there are so many elements that are identifiable from watching the first example .
Within the television drama there is always the same characters that appear each; within Lost the same characters are shown throughout the same episode. This is effective because it makes the same show seen consistent, if the characters were to change each week it would become confusing to the audience.
Lost also aims to represent reality, as I mentioned previously there are real life situations featured within lost . An example of this was, where this has been used when the man had an accident. This is an example of a real life situation, therefore the audience are able to relate to it .
There is also use of a title sequence, this is commonly used in television drama. Lost has a title sequence, that is very short ,but the writing is easy to identify with the show . This is useful because it helps the audience to become familiar with the show.
An television drama also aims to represent reality, lost does have feature of real life situations that viewers can relate to. However the setting is not realistic it is fictional.
There is use of conventional shots within a television drama , that the viewer becomes familiar . This type of shot is called an shot reverse shot , Lost does have use of this type of shot. An example when this is used in Lost , is when there is dialogue between the characters , this happens throughout the first episode of lost . This is useful for the audience because they are able to view conversations clearly , then the audience is able to have an better understanding of what is going on in each scene.
